Jug, soft-paste porcelain, urn-shaped form with spreading foot, bulbous body and cylindrical neck, beak spout with a moulded mask to the underside, high loop handle with foliate moulding at the terminals, round domed cover with to the top a knob-shaped finial; finely painted in polychrome enamels with around the exterior body of the jug a classical scene representing the 'Choice of Hercules', with a nude male figure between two female figures, around the exterior neck of the jug and the sides of the cover classical borders in black and gilt, gilt and black lines around the foot, gilt lines around the shoulder, lip-rim and the rim of the cover, the spout picked out in gilt, the handle picked out in gilt with a black stripe, the finial painted in gilt.
