Black and white photograph, mounted Photographic copy - "Fforchaman Pit" view of three men at pit surface with winding gear in background
Caption from exhibition "Fforchaman Pit (Jonathan Peters). Arthur Charles Baker was interviewed by Julie Salway and Beverley Masters. 'I worked at Fforchaman Colliery. There are many jobs in the mines. There were Colliers and collier boys. They hewed and carried the coal from the face to fill the trams. There were also hauliers who were in charge of a horse which pulled the trams. There were repairers who kept the roadways in good condition. Firemen who were in charge of safety. Winding men worked the ropes for the cages and there were blacksmiths who made and repaired trams and also shod the horses.'" - Sian Williams
