Iron Age / Roman iron escutcheon
Possible iron escutcheon consisting of a circular plate with a central perforation expanding to form a simple loop. An opposing loop or decorative piece has broken off but the steep curve suggests it may have supported a large bowl. A similar object, identified as a drop-hinge was recovered from a late 4th century AD context at Segontium (Casey, Davies and Evans 1993, p 195-7, fig. 10.7).
