Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Jug or pitcher of thick, hard blue-grey ware, fired orange-buff inside and red outside. Dull mottled green glaze, unevenly applied, so that patches of red surface break through, especially round the rim and handle. Sagging base with pain angle, the vessel being rendered stable by strips of clay applied tothe base, whose scars are still visable. Decoration consists of applied strips of ferruginous clay, which in their weathered state look like rusted iron. The pattern consisted of pairs of verticals parallel lines with pellets between them. Two sets of htese remain, one on the front and the other on one side; there must originally have been another on the other side, making a symmetrical arrangement of three in total.
