These are the moderately preserved remains of an inhumation burial of a middle adult (17-35 years).
The burial is from Burial Phase J: 774-1115 AD
They were buried in a unique double grave. Multiple graves are unusual in the Five Mile Lane cemetary with only five double burials and one with possibly more. This adult SK65 was buried in an supine position oriented West-East with their legs slightly flexed to the right. Uniquely, they were buried with the child SK64 lying supine on thier torso. The child SK64 has their arms folded across their body and their head resting beneath the chin of the adult. Adult Sk65's arms are flexed to cradle the head of child SK64.
This seems to indicate a close bond between the adult and child. No grave goods were recovered from the burial.
