Plate, earthenware, circular shape with rounded foot-rim, cushion-moulded sides and spreading rim, the rim lobed, the rim moulded with embossed flowers; transfer-printed in purple with to the centre of the well a head and shoulders portrait of Prince Albert shown wearing a military-style uniform with a large medal and a high collar, above the portrait is the inscription "PRINCE ALBERT" in a curve, a brown band to the edge of the well, the whole of the plate covered with a brownish discolouration.
