Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Lewis Group 16, 105 B
Slip on impression. fragments. 105 A reversed. Two joining fragments (not adhering)
Shield of arms set diagonally: 3 clarions set 2 and 1 (Clare); formal and loral lea motifs springing from top and sides and four roundels. This version of their arms, once thought to be the arms of Granville, is derived from a badge of the Clares (Siddons, 1993).
There is a fault in the stamp on one of the fragments that is not noted in Lewis but the tile proile is identical and therefore must be the same fragment.
Site Name: Neath Abbey, Neath
Notes: This tile likely refers to the unnumbered tile listed in Lewis for this design. It has been assigned to accession 63.469/39 as it is unknown what batch of tile from Neath Abbey it came in.
