Beehive harp chair.
The craft of lip-work extended from simple baskets to larger more complicated pieces of furniture. The lip-work canopy on this chair is built around a wooden frame and seat, with wooden arms. Imagine how cosy this chair would have been in a damp and drafty farmhouse kitchen. It dates to the early 1800s and was used at Penbryn near Carmarthen. They were also referred to as harpist's chairs.
