Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Obverse. The King seated on a throne, beneath a baldachino canopy with three ogee arches, supported by four pillars; the back of the throne and the side panels decorated with quatrefoils; the monarch’s royal robes spread out on the seat to either side; his left hand holds a sceptre topped with a cross (?) paty, his right hand a sceptre bearing a tall cross. To either side, a shield: quarterly, FRANCE (Modern) and ENGLAND, encircled with the Garter bearing its motto, and ensigned by a royal crown. Near the tag of the Garter, a fleur-de-lis. Around the whole, a broad border of roses and fleurs-de-lis alternately. In the legend N and S are reversed, with small fleurs-de-lis as stops.
