Wooden roller covered with a layer of stitched-on black woven wool fabric; ends of the roller are suspended by resting in cut-outs of a ceramic base/holder, allowing it to spin. Gummy deposits are embedded into the fabric from contact with stamps. The wool is butt-joined together with overcast stitches using a cotton thread. The weave is a twill construction where over-2-under-2 alternates with over-1-under-1.
