Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This chair was won by Rowland Williams, or Hwfa Môn as he was known by his bardic name at the 1878 National Eisteddfod, held in Birkenhead. He won several chairs and crowns as well as adjudicating. He was known for his great speeches and was elected Archdruid from 1895 until his death in 1905. The 1878 chair was named 'Arthur's Chair'. This may be associated with the Guild of the Round Table - a small society who tried to organize the Eisteddfod during a chaotic period in its history.
