Drug jar, pale buff coloured earthenware, standing on a waisted spreading foot, globular body sloping inwards at the shoulder, short cylindrical neck with everted lip-rim; covered all over with a slightly bluish tinged white tin-glaze with a slightly pinkish tinge to it in places, this then painted in blue with to the one side of the body the inscription "C: CORT: AUR" enclosed within an elaborate scrolling cartouche surmounted by a shell and the figures of two winged cherubs bearing sprigs of flowers, and with below the head of a winged cherub and two stylized flower heads, the glaze chipped around the foot-rim and lip-rim.
