Pot-lid

Mayer, T.J. & J.

Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top, the flange partially obscured by the frame; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Napirima Trinidad', showing a tropical island scene with in the foreground various shipping on the sea, and in the background a village at the base of a wooded hill, around the bottom of the scene the inscription "Napirima Trinidad". The glaze crazed, a narrow crack to one side of the lid. The pot-lid mounted for display in a close-fitting circular wooden frame painted black.
