Printed velveteen wall coverings
The panel is made of three widths of pale brown/cream cotton velvet, joined together with vertical seams. The velvet has been printed in brown with a 19.3cm wide repeating motif of an eagle and chained dog in a boat with trees/flowers/foliage and three ducks in the foreground. The brown print makes up the background while the unprinted area stands out as the motif. The panel is lined with plain printed brown composite woven cotton. Linen tapes are stitched around the edges of the reverse side onto which brass rings are sewn for attachment to the wall. The top edge is hemmed and the other three are finished with linen tape. One central fixing mark, i.e. a small hole in upper and lining fabric to indicate that something was attached through the wall covering and fixed into the wall, in this case probably a picture, suggested by the area below the hole which was protected from light damage and as a result has not discoloured.
