A clog knife used for cutting the channel around the edge of the wooden sole into which the leather uppers are nailed. The cutting tool is V- shaped, fitted into a slot in a long, curved metal bar, and secured with a bolt. At one end of the metal bar is a short wooden handle. The other end has been shaped into a hook. The clogmaker would attach the hook to a metal ring on the bench, hold the handle of the tool in one hand and the wooden sole to be shaped in the other hand. G.Beech 25/07/13
