Tray with two cups and saucers, soft-paste porcelain, the tray a wide rounded and lobed triangle hollow underneath with vertical sides and roughly concentric oval ridges on the upper side, each cup bell-shaped with small kick in the base and indented side where the tall upright handle is applied, each handle with one hollow face and roughly scrolled top, each saucer circular with a flat base, flared profile and three notches in the rim; all freely enamelled in bright green, blue, yellow, pink and purple enamels and gilded in the same manner.
Betty Woodman is one of the best-known and most highly respected ceramic artists. Since 1987, Woodman has worked periodically at the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres in France, where this piece was made.
