Butter-dish, deep cream-coloured earthenware with a greeny-yellow tinge to the glaze, slightly rounded foot-rim and cylindrical reeded sides, rounded domed cover with flat collar-like rim, the sides of the cover reeded, a shaped edge to the rim, to the top of the cover a flower head finial with a stem and leaves; painted in purple monochrome with around the exterior sides of the dish and the top of the cover sprays and sprigs of flowers trailing long feathery leaves. Stand, deep cream-coloured earthenware with a greeny-yellow tinge to the glaze, standing on a short cylindrical foot-rim, curving spreading sides, the interior sides fluted, a shaped edge to the rim; finely painted in polychrome enamels with to the upperside of the stand scattered sprays and sprigs of stylized flowers trailing long feathery leaves. The stand cracked and repaired.
