Long flanged axe Class 5Db, Type Arreton. Two conjoining fragments of a complete, slender, bronze flanged axe with cast flanges. The sides of the axe are straight and near-parallel curving out suddenly to a crescentic blade edge. 54mm from the butt-end there is a median bevel across both faces and flanges rise 3mm above the septum on both faces. Striations running parallel with the blade edge indicate that it was sharpened for use.
Site Name: Wenvoe, Vale of Glamorgan
Notes: It is probable that these artefacts were deposited together as a hoard, being disturbed and dispersed in recent times due to farm cultivation.
