Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Cup, buff coloured earthenware, standing on a spreading waisted foot-rim, bell-shaped body with everted lip-rim, twin plain loop handles to either side of the body, the lower terminal of each handle curving outwards; covered all over, inside and out with a creamy-beige slip, this then crudely decorated in brown slip with to one side of the body the inscription 'Lovers Cup / in his hand' with a pattern of rough scrolls beneath, and to the other side the inscription 'J M 1768' with a further pattern of rough scrolls beneath, a rough border of hatched lines to the interior and exterior lip-rim and to the handles, the body then covered with a clear glaze, the foot left undecorated and unglazed.
