Early Bronze Age flint plano-convex knife

The convex surface of this fine knife has been worked over the whole surface. One edge and the tip of the bulbar surface are similarly worked.

Find Information

Site Name: Cadno Mountain, Pendine

Grid Reference: SN 235 095
Collection Method: excavation

Notes: From a pit with a cremated burial, 2 metres north-west of the centre of the tumulus. Found with fragments of pottery and a curved flint tool in a stone-lined pit containing a cremation burial. The knife was not burnt on the pyre but was placed in grave as part of the funerary rituals. Daethpwyd o hyd iddi gyda darnau o grochenwaith ac erfyn fflint crwn mewn pydew wedi’i leinio â cherrig a oedd yn cynnwys corfflosgiad. Nid oedd y gyllell wedi cael ei llosgi ar y goelcerth ond cafodd ei gosod yn y bedd yn rhan o’r defodau angladdol.
