Lower Palaeolithic flint handaxe
Flint handaxe wiht a thick mid-section tapering to a cortical butt. A point at the other end. Some recent damage to the tip shows it is made on black flint with a heavy white patina.
Flint handaxe found in Blaenavon, south-east Wales. This flint tool was used for butchery about 300,000 years ago.
