ss. YARMOUTH COUNTY (7130gt) : ‘Victory’ type vessel built 1943 as FORT ASTORIA by West Coast Shipbuilders Ltd., Vancouver, for the Canadian Government, but managed for MoWT by Counties Ship Management Co, London. 1946 – Returned to Canada, renamed YARMOUTH COUNTY and transferred to Acadia Overseas Freighters Ltd., Halifax, Nova Scotia. She collided with the Canadian destroyer HMCS MICMAC in July 1947 with the loss of ten of MICMAC’s crew and one civilian. 1948 – Sold to Cia de Nav San George, Panama, and renamed SANTA DESPO. 1955 – Sold to Paranalto Cia Nav., Monrovia, and renamed MOUNT ITHOME.
