Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Black straw hat, high crowned and narrow brimmed. Cloche style. Black ribboned hat-band culminating in a rosette style at the front. The black ribbons which constitute the rosette have been stitched onto a ground fabric of loose-weave cellulosic fabric (tabby binding) and given extra support through a silk-wrapped metal wire, which surrounds the rosette. The hat has a cotton twill lining and the underside of the brim is lined with pink muslin (? - loosely woven tabby fabric) which also encapsulates the edge and would have just been visible from the outside/top of the hat.
