Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Pencil box, used by either Samuel or Joseph Price. They were brothers and attended Maestir School (which has now been relocated to St Fagans). Sadly, in 1894-95, they both died from small pox before they were 14 years old.
Maestir School Log paints a telling picture of childhood hardship, poverty, sickness and death. It notes the death of children overnight and also the closure of school for the day as all the children in the school wanted to attend the funeral of a friend who died.
Used by Samuel or Joseph Price at Maestir School.
