Two handled sauce tureen and cover, soft-paste poprcelain; standing on a narrow pedestal base with rounded lower body, concave shoulders, straight-sided lip and upturned spindle handles with floral embossed discs (one embossed disc omitted during manufacture), flat-topped conical cover with beaded moulded rim and pineapple finial; painted with vases of flowers and buddhistic emblems surrounded by sprays of oriental flowers, the rims with a blue, iron-red and gilt line border, with gilt foliate decoration to the handles, three gilt bands at the centre of the handle and gilding to the finial; the stand of plain design, standing on a slightly spreading foot rim and with a recessed centre, having a freely painted red floral design on the underside, the upper side painted as the tureen and having a blue, iron-red and gilt line border around the rim, blue and iron-red lines around the inner rim and a single iron-red line around the recessed centre.
