Carving of Madonna and child, inspired by a medieval example surviving in Le Musée de l’Evéche in Quimper, Britanny. The statue was carved from oak by master carver Emyr Hughes (from Llangollen, now living in Gloucestershire). It shows Mary holding the Christ child with her left arm. He holds an orb in his left hand. The statue was painted by Fleur Kelly from Mells, Nr Frome, Somerset, using natural pigments and gold leaf.
