Wedding dress

Maroon silk wedding dress (bodice and skirt) worn by Miss Mary Elizabeth Jones, aged 21, for her wedding in 1882 to Mr Benjamin in Borth. Bodice tight fitting, boned, with seventeen covered buttons. Long tails at back weighted. Eight vertical pleats on either side of front. Skirt of same material. Band of bead embroidery defines edges of side bustles front and back. The skirt falls to the hem in a series of pleated frills alternating with a row of scallops. The skirt has a boned and horizontally tied bustle built in at the rear.
