Flat or low flanged axe - probable Class 3 (unassigned)
Site Name: Nevern, Pembrokeshire
Notes: The finders reported the flat axes as having been discovered near to the edge of a small field under rough pasture in the Community of Nevern, Pembrokeshire. Both finders each found an axe, within quick succession of each other and located approximately 5.5 feet or 1.65m apart and near to the western boundary of the field. The axes were reported as between 10-13inches (25-33cm) in depth beneath the surface. No change in soils and soil colour and character was observed by the finders in the sides of their detector pits on removing the flat axes from the ground.
