Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Brass bands have a long tradition in Wales, as in many industrial areas in the UK. The slate quarrying communities of north Wales were no exception. This baby trombone was awarded to the Corris Brass Band at the Merthyr Tydfil National Eisteddfod in 1881. They fought off stiff competition from the larger brass bands of the south Wales coalfield to win second prize.
