Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Silk map sampler dated 1810 made by Mary Jones at school in Welshpool, Powys. Embroidered in silk threads and couched silk chenille. The design features a map of Wales with the counties marked out and labelled. The map is surrounded by a floral broder and there are flowers in each corner. Stitching is mostly satin and couching, the execution of the lettering is particulary fine.
