Improved ship's compass card designed by Edward Evan Williams. Constructed of tissue paper, with a stiffened linen rim to which are attached green threads and central slim metal fixing struts. It bears an emblem in which is printed/written "E.E. Williams, Newport, Mon, Patent No. 518". Possibly the original prototype? With original card box (2009.90/2)
