Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
An engraved panel found in the filling of the natatio. The slab had originally been thicker, but is split along its plane; the edges of the piece are worn, and indicate its re-use after breakage. The incised face is quite smooth and all surfaces are encrusted with lime. Plain borders are indicated at the base and to right by thin V-cut grooves, and within the panel is the simple engraving of a marine creature with trifid tail, either a hippocamp, capricorn or dolphin - swimming to the left. Only the tail and part of the body remain. A wavy line running along the body may represent the sea.
