Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Tumbler, sides tapering from a shallow footring; the front painted, within a border of two gilt bands, with a crowned male bust on a pedestal bearing a relief of Britannia, two putti, above one, with a trumpet of fame, bearing a laurel wreath; two putti in the foreground, one inscribing `peace' on an oval tablet, the other holding a map; on either side of the pedestal a naval rating and a private soldier, each in the uniform of c.1800 holding a wreath, behind two ships of the line, one flying the pre 1801 union jack over (?) the Dutch tricolour on one side, and on the other a landscape of pyramids; trident, globe and emblems of the arts below; the back with salmon pink ground decorated with gilt sprigs, swags, stars and beads below a scroll border.
