Caption from exhibition "Chapel Outing to Porthcawl. (Leigh Harris). Gemma Knight interviewed her gran, Mrs M Matthews. 'The notable annual event of my childhood days was the Sunday School Outing to the sea-side, Barry or Porthcawl. The date to choose was of great importance, gambling on the weather forecast, there was much humour if a chael picked a day on which it rained. We kids took no notice of the rain. This was the only holiday we had during the whole year and we were determined to make the most of it. We'd be so excited that we couldn't go to sleep the night before, and we'd be up at the crack of dawn. We'd be so tired by the end of the day that most of us would be fast asleep on the journey home. What a holiday!'"
