Built 1942 as OCEAN TRADER by Todd-Bath Iron Shipbuilding Corp., Portland, Maine, for MoWT (managed by Glen Line Ltd., London). 1947 – Sold to Drake Shipping Co., London, and renamed MERCHANT ROYAL. 1951 – Sold to Cia. Armadora Transoceanica SA., Panama, and renamed OCEANA. 1960 – Sold to Cia. Armadora Sabinal SA., Panama, and renamed OKEANIS (Greek flagged). 1966 – Sold to Salinamar SA., Panama, and renamed FIDES., managed by Cosulich, Trieste. 1968 – Ownership transferred to Marsilina Shipping Co., Famagusta, Cyprus, and renamed DEFIS (same managers). She was broken up at Osaka in 1969.
