Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This tie-ring has a neatly modelled basal rib which extends beyond the line of the circle at the point of junction. The shaft consists of an upper, slightly flared, facetted portion, of polygonal cross-section, with a narrowing shaft of circular cross-section below. Thus the fitting incorporates fetures of both categories 1 and 2. It is more elegantly modelled than other tie-rings from this site.
Site Name: Roman Gates Site, Caerleon
Notes: found during the excavation of barrack-blocks etc. on the 'Roman Gates' site, carried out by the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust.
