Seal impression: Royal

Obverse. This seal resembles closely the Third Great Seal of Charles I. The monarch, seated and wears a small crown, the collar of the Garter, ermine cloak and fur tippet; in his right hand a sceptre, in his left, an orb level with his waist, both poorly engraved, his feet rest upon a cushion. The upper part of the throne, beneath the canopy, is shell-shaped, whilst cherubs uphold the flying curtains of the canopy and support a small shield of arms, indiscernible on this impression. To either side of the monarch, an eagle at rest. In field, dext. a lion sejant, crowned and holding on a lance a flag charged with the cross of St George; sin. a unicorn sejant reguardant, gorged with a coronet, similarly holding a flag charged with the cross of St Andrew. Over the canopy, is the date: 16/53. Outer border decoratively beaded.
