Punch-bowl
Coles and Haynes, Cambrian Pottery (1790 - 1802)
Punch-bowl, cream-coloured earthenware, heavily blued pearl-glaze shrinking at the base; wheel-thrown, a little warped; high foot ring and straight sides; painted in a streaky underglaze blue, the exterior with a continuous Chinese landscape of shrubs, trees, rocks, houses, lattice fences and a bridge over a river, the interior with a circular rayed reserve of a large swan swimming between two rocks with sprouting bulrushes and with a pike rising below, the lip with a border of scales and pendent tassels.
