BAWDEN, Edward (1903-1989)
Tile, square, white earthenware body with large white grit inclusions, cream coloured glaze with brown speckles extending over front face and edges, the reverse moulded with with a pattern of cross-hatches to enable mortar to adhere to the surface; hand-decorated over the glaze in a simple, stylised manner in green and black enamels, to the left is an archway with open curtains in front of which sits a rug with green stripes and a low, two-tiered table with a large banded vase and three flowers, the left edge is inscribed 'PICOTEES'.
