Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Apron worn by Miss Elizabeth H. Edwards (Hettie Edwards) as member of the British Red Cross (Voluntary Reserve) during the Second World War. She was a librarian at the National Museum of Wales, 1931-70.
White cotton apron. Upper section to cover chest with appliqued red cross. With cloth covered metal buttons as fastening on waist. Upper section would have been held up either by pinning (evidence of pin holes on upper corners) or by fastening the tape loops which are applied to back of upper corners onto corresponding buttons (or similar) on dress (no evidence that tape loops have been in use, i.e. no creasing). Apron appears to be starched.
