Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Probably a Cardiff ware cooking vessel with external sooting of about 12th to 13th century date. PW notes ' Jar or cooking pot in a grey fabric containing quartz grains and occasional limestone inclusions, giving the surfaces a rough texture. The outer surface has been burned black while the inner surface is brown/grey in colour. The rim shape is similar to Pottery 1-20 LLatrithyd - which dates as late Saxon; Pottery 5-164 Llantrithyd dates 12th - 13th century , while a very similar rim sherd in Rahtz, P 1974 fig 27-42 dates as medieval.
