Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A small unevenly curved wallsherd of glass with a pale green colour, slightly tinged with turqoise (colour chart for Anglo-Saxon window glassfrom Wearmouth and Jarrow; Cramp 2006, fig. 27.1.11). The surfaces inside and out show uneven striated waves, and there are areas of fine bubbling and imperfections. A calcareous partially covers surfaces and old fractures.
The date for this object is provided by its Early Medieval context. If not intrusive, the surfaces of this sherd, which appear to be the result of high temperature modification, suggest that it may have been part of a store of manufactured material being recycled by makers.
