Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Timber incorporating a natural 'knee' at one end to provide a right-angled bend to some structural purpose, with peg-and nail-holes. The main limbs are split and axe-trimmed to square section. Possibly originally a ship's timber and an oak peg remains in the lowest hole, driven in flush with the concave face. There is an angled notch cut to its rear face, and the hole through the 'knee' is left by a knot rather than deliberate. Reused as pile in Well 2.
