Early Bronze Age bone dagger pommel
Small, ovoid shaped pommel with expanded top. It has a vertical rectangular opening for the dagger tang and a pair of small holes on each face for fastening rivets. No trace of the bronze blade was found in the burial suggesting that the dagger was taken apart before burial.
Cnepyn dagr bach wyffurf â phen wedi’i ehangu. Mae ganddo agoriad petryalog fertigol ar gyfer colsaid y dagr a phâr o dyllau bach ar bob wyneb ar gyfer rhybedion cysylltu. Ni ddaethpwyd o hyd i unrhyw arwydd o’r llafn efydd yn y gladdfa, sy’n awgrymu bod y dagr wedi cael ei dynnu’n rhydd cyn claddu.
Site Name: Marian-bach, Cwm
Notes: Round cairn 64D. It is one of two pommels accompanying the cremated remains of an adult (probable female) and a young child aged 3-6 years old buried inside a Collared Urn. This was placed in a grave dug into a stone cairn. Mae’n un o ddau gnepyn dagr sy’n cyd-fynd â gweddillion wedi’u hamlosgi oedolyn (benywaidd, fwy na thebyg) a phlentyn ifanc 3-6 oed a gladdwyd y tu mewn i Wrn Colerog. Cafodd hwn ei osod mewn bedd a gloddiwyd mewn carnedd gerrig.
