Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Bronze backing plate, with two large tubular rivets of a sufficient size to determine the method of manufacture. As preserved, one end of each rivet has been hammered out and is cleary original, representing the inner, under, or concealed side of whatever object the rivets passed through. The implication is clearthat the heads of the rivets have been lost and withthem, of course, the presumably ornamental fitting which they served to attach. It seems indeed likely that the rivets were cut through in order to free the ornament.
