Liberty ship built 1944 as SAMEDEN by Bethlehem – Fairfield Shipyard Inc., Baltimore, for MoWT, managed by Port Line Ltd., London. 1947 – Sold to Mill Hill Steamship Co. , and renamed MILL HILL, managed by Counties Ship Management Ltd., London. 1951 – Sold to Cost de Marfil Cia. Nav., SA, Panama, and renamed EDUCATOR (Liberian flag), managed by D. Pateras Ltd., London. 1961 – Sold to Kanaris Cia. Nav., Panama, and renamed KANARIS (Greek flag, same managers). 1966 – Sold to Active Steam Ship Co., Panama, and renamed SPLENDID SKY (Panamanian flag), managed by Shipping & Financial SA., Lausanne. On 4th October 1969, she ran aground in the River Schelde ona voyage from Antwerp to Spezia.
