Liberty ship built 1944 as SAMEDEN by Bethlehem – Fairfield Shipyard Inc., Baltimore, for MoWT, managed by Port Line Ltd., London. 1947 – Sold to Mill Hill Steamship Co. , and renamed MILL HILL, managed by Counties Ship Management Ltd., London. 1951 – Sold to Cost de Marfil Cia. Nav., SA, Panama, and renamed EDUCATOR (Liberian flag), managed by D. Pateras Ltd., London. 1961 – Sold to Kanaris Cia. Nav., Panama, and renamed KANARIS (Greek flag, same managers). 1966 – Sold to Active Steam Ship Co., Panama, and renamed SPLENDID SKY (Panamanian flag), managed by Shipping & Financial SA., Lausanne. On 4th October 1969, she ran aground in the River Schelde ona voyage from Antwerp to Spezia. Although later refloated, she was found to have broken her back and was broken up at Antwerp in January 1970. (ref - mariners-l) (red-duster.co.uk)
