Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Samian bowl sherds, form Dr30 and Dr37. S334 is a Dr37 bowl sherd. Central Gaulish and Antonine in date. The fabric is pink with a good orange/red slip. Squarish double ovolo, segmented tongue with tip bent to the left and a corded border. Part of astragalus beneath ovolo. S335 is a Dr30 bowl sherd. Southern Gaulish and Flavian in date. The sherd is small and in a thin, dark orange/red ware with a good smooth gloss of the same colour and very clear moulding. A small, rounded double ovolo, with a plain tongue and triffid tip. A clear, fine and rather exaggerated wavy line below. The motif beneath is not legible.
Dr 37 is a hemispherical decorated bowl
Dr 30 is an approximately cylindrical decorated bowl (vase)

Notes: Field adjoins the south-west side of the legionary fortress : 'A' material is from Courtyard House (Civil Settlement). Context: at 121: in occupation (thick) next below humus and bext above pink clay. Stone Phase.
