Full title - Prices of Welsh Slates.
Prices and particulars of slates supplied by the slate merchants ‘Davies Brothers’ of Porthmadoc, dated 1st January 1914. Prices are given for machine dressed ‘Portmadoc (or Festiniog)’ slates; ‘Bangor slates from the Caernarvon Quarries’; ‘best blue Welsh slate slabs’; slate cisterns; blue slate roll and wings; and ‘Precelly Green and Precelly Rustic slates’. The prices given are for slates in various sizes, and of various quality. The price list also gives details of buildings which had been roofed with Precelly slates. Included with the price list are two loose pieces of paper. One is a letter reminding prospective clients that the Davies Brothers specialize in slate cisterns and tanks. The other is an advertisement for Precelly slates from the Gilfach Quarry, Clynderwen, Carmarthenshire. The price list is printed on cream card, and is folded down the centre, with a metal staple to hold the various pages together. The donor’s family were timber merchants in Taunton, Somerset. They supplied timber and slate to local builders and merchants, and as a result acquired a collection of slate price lists.
