Medieval silver annular 'stirrup' brooch with pin.
Small silver annular stirrup brooch. The frame is of circular cross-section with transverse groove decoration engraved for half of its circumference. The pin, which is of diamond cross-section, is engraved with a zig-zag line on each facet, up to the short transverse stirrup at the junction of head and shaft. One arm of the stirrup is missing, and the other engraved with transverse lines. The head is simply wrapped around the hoop, and its front is engraved with zig-zag decoration similar to the shaft.
The 'stirrup' refers to the arms protruding from the pin. These would have prevented snagging.
